Are
the Amazing Quests! Core Rules
Not Enough for
You?
For some gamers, it will be
everything they need. The
AQ! core rules have everything you need to
rolegame, with no supplements required. The core rules are universal, so they'll
work fine whether you're running a sword & sorcery game, an ultraheroes
campaign, a time-travel adventure, an espionage story, a space opera, or
anything else. And with rules for magic, miracles, powers, psionics, mutations, and cybernetics,
adventuring in most genres will be quick and easy. There are even 2D wargaming, wargaming,
and live-action role-playing rules. If you have an imagination, you can play
anything with those core rules.
But I'm the first to admit that source material
is awesome. Sometimes it helps to have some background information available to
serve as a starting point. That's one of the two things I had in mind when I
began making a campaign setting for Amazing Quests! The second was that I
wanted to incorporate all those many genres the core rules introduced. After
all, it's the "Multigenre Universal Rolegaming Framework."
The result is the Astroscape Zero campaign
setting. The location: a solar system somewhere in the universe. Solar systems
are called "astroscapes," and the inhabitants of this astroscape feel theirs is
the primary one, and thus call it "Astroscape Zero." And there are many
inhabitants. The setting is built like a typical fantasy setting, with fantasy
races and magic and whatnot. But in honor of other genres, it incorporates
technology, psionics, mutations, and much more.
