A Plethora of Playable
RACES!

Have you ever played a rolegame and complained that the number of playable races was too low, especially if the game had scores of detailed non-player-character races? If you've ever perused the monsters in an RPG's bestiary and gotten excited about playing one of the exotic humanoid races, only to be told you can't play them because they're only intended to be NPCs, you should like this.

Astroscape Zero is, at its core, a sword-and-sorcery RPG, although of course there's a whole lot more than that to it. But I started with the "tyipcal" fantasy races, and then went crazy, with major race groups, minor races, and plenty of detailed subspecies.

Homeworld: Spyro, the seat of the Interplanetary League and central melting pot of all of Astroscape Zero and its 77 worlds.

Summary: The dominant race in the astroscape, with endless variations and bonus Skill Points. If you can think it, you can create it.

The Elf Races

Homeworld: Ni'fir-ma, home of dragons and other fantastic creatures.

Races/species: Allum, the desert elves; brownies, the brown elves; elves; high elves (also called celestial elves); four varieties of green elves (leprechauns, clurichauns, halrochauns, and meerachauns); patches, called arctic elves or white elves; and the evil swarth, the dark elves.

The Halfling Rraces

Homeworld: Ni'fir-ma, which they share with the alfar.

Races/species: Halflings; robins; kweekie, with full-body hair; puck, the jungle berg; and teekers, who run run incredibly fast.

The Dwarf Rraces

Homeworld: Lectrumfleer, where the dwarves have mined for ages.

Races/species: Dvalin, the artistic deor; dwarves, the miners; kadrow, the evil dwarves in league with the swarth of the alfar; and powrie, the war dwarves.

The Gnome Races

Homeworld: Lectrumfleer and Spyro, mostly

Races/species: Gnomes, who live in burrows, pilfer, and work illusions; cooter gnomes, skilled in making things work; devil gnomes, called gremlins, who are good at making things not work; and rock gnomes, a bizarre species of gnome that can phase in and out of solid rock.

The Goblinoid Races

Homeworld: Balgorf

Races/species: The bugbears, goblins, hobgoblins, kobolds, ogres, and orcs. In RPGs, these races are traditionally cannon fodder, but here you can play them. Each race is replete with reasons why you'll want to play them.

The Quaice Races

Homeworld: Eight of the 16 Primary Moons of Quelzar, a gas giant

Races/species:  The five colored quaice (blue, green, purple, red, and yellow), with vastly different cultures based on one religion; two zevulon (black and white), the major outcasts; and the zukorr, even greater outcasts.

The Centaur Races

Homeworld: Dashengar

Races/Species: Argotaurs (12 varieties of human/herd animal hybrids); centaurs (three species); minotaur; and pantaurs (three species).

The Bug Races

Homeworld: Sulcas

Races/species: The greatest threat to the astroscape, these humanoid insects and spiders want to escape their world and overrun all other worlds on the astroscape, conquering worlds and eating everyone. If they ever figure out how their Archways work, the astroscape is in deep trouble. Luckily, some of them don't feel this way.
